The province of Antique is one of the six provinces comprising Western Visayas or Region VI and one of the four provinces in the island of Panay. Antique was one of the three districts of Panay before Spanish colonizer arrived on the islands. The province was known at that time, the local name for the large black ants found on the island. The Spanish chroniclers, influenced by the French, recorded the region’s name as Hantique, which was then read as antique. The locals then pronounced the name into its present name “Antique”
The Province of Antique is an elongated stretch of land occupying the entire western side of the island. It is bounded by the rugged central mountains of Panay, bordering on the provinces of Aklan in the northeast, Capiz on the east, Iloilo in the southeast and the Sulu see on the west.

Aklan

Gurimaras
Gurimaras is a fourth class island provinceof the Philippines located in the Western Visayas regions.

Among the smallest provinces, its capital is Jordan. The island is located in the Panay Gulf, between the islands of Panay and Negros. To the northwest is the province of llolio and to the southeast is Negros oriental.
The province consists primarily of Guimaras Island, and also include Inampulugan, Guiwanon, Panobolon, Natunga, Nadulao, and many minor surrounding islands. Geologists have concluded that the island once formed one landmass with Panay.

Located southwest of Panay, Guimaras is separated from llolio by the llolio strait, a narrow channel which takes about fifteen minutes to cross by pump boat from the Ortiz landing in llolio to Jordan, Gurimaras. Other ferries leave from the Parola wharf in llolio to the municipality of Gurimaras The Parola wharf is used exclusively whenever the water is rough. There also is a roll on/roll off(RORO) ferry that travels around five times a day.
